That’s a Wrap!

Image
Our final photo of Rhode Island. Arguably also our best one - checkout all that direct eye contact from the kiddos!  It took Hannah most the week to remember Owens name correctly, she kept calling calling him Ian’s nickname (E-E” but by the last day she finally had Uncle Owen down right. Hopefully next year Grandpa and Uncle Ian will forget their foolish fishing trip and join us, along with Kate and Ellie. They were definitely all missed this week! And next year we will have new baby Ramirez in the mix as well!  So long for now… until our next adventure!

Ramirez RI Recap

Image
Here are some photos from the Ramirez family’s phones during our Rhode Island trip, which only had a few because we were too busy having fun!  Grandma and Owen would read to Hannah at night Emma and Sara got to go out for a manicure/pedicure morning  Beach naps were the best Hannah loved stomping the water and going as far as being waist-deep in the waves  Grandma snuggles  Hannah’s first pigtail hair style!  A wonderful week for sure  Some of Hannah’s favorite phrases of the week were “chicken stuck” (in her teeth), “worm bites” (inexplicable where that came from) “Ice cream Truck” and all day long singing a variety of songs but in particular the “are we there yet?” call and response verse.  Some of Jakes favorites phrases were “Bamboo!!!”, “it’s heavy”,  pointing out any and all number 7s or letter Vs, and he really loves checking out fire hydrants and sewer drains on our nightly walks. Owens favorites were making excuses for why his eyes ...

Friday our last day

Wow that's a heartbreak to write! The week has flown by. Grandma has only knocked the children over a few times. No one has been lost or drowned, and murder only occurs in the shower. There have been a few instances where elbows were flying in the kitchen but that's not unusual or deadly. Unless you are Hannah and get hit by a hip. We love our morning playtime. And I am pretty sure we used more sunscreen then milk this week. We couldn't ask for a more perfect day at the beach And we ended it all with lots of ice cream and watching the Olympic trials! Couldn't ask for a better beach week!

Thursday

It was a glorious beach day today, fun was had by all. At least three of us took beach naps- one of God's greatest gifts! Another of those gifts is evening ice cream. Yum

After Dinner Walks

Image
We love our after dinner walks during beach week! It’s how we earn our nightly “ice cream o’clock” - no picture of that, since we’re obviously too busy eating our delicious desserts to pause and take a picture.  On our walks each night we can see anywhere from 5 to 50 bunnies. Great entertainment for the kiddos, and a fun source of gambling for the adults: “let’s bet how many we see tonight…”   So far, we’ve found a wide variety of things to place bets on. What runner in the Olympic trials would win a race, how many years ago did Mean Girls come out, what’s the temperature at the peak of Kilimanjaro… you know you have a healthy sense of competition in this family when you find a way to wager on just about anything.

Tuesday fun

Image
Beach days get off to a great start if there is a big breakfast to start us off. I made coffee for me and the kids, Sara and Emma made bacon and eggs and waffles. All yummy! Hannah and Jake made towers and stayed out of the way.  It was a most beautiful day today! Warm, sunny, warm, and more sunny! I forgot how HOT the sand can be. But the water felt great and it was fun to sit on our chairs with our feet getting wet. The kids liked the waves and the sand and we spent the whole day at the beach. After our dinner we continued our routine of taking a nice walk in the neighborhood and looking at all the bunnies

Monday beach day!

Big news for the morning is the homeowner came and fixed the air conditioner. Yippee!   We went to get our beach pass and after sitting in a line for a while I realized I forgot my id to show I am nearly old enough for the senior half price discount. Back to the house we went and when we got back we had no line. Perfect! The beach is very windy and there is a terrible rip tide. We saw one girl get rescued already. It's a red flag day and we have to hold Hannah by two hands to keep her safe! Lots of good wave sounds today- really crashing. It pulled Hannah's shoes right off her feet.  Next big news was that Sara and Jacob arrived! More fun to be had now!
